Found my answer.... I do not condone illegal activity, I am a law abiding Internet user just like everyone on ARF

I am pretty new to linux, but not a total noob Wait...is this against the rules? AR15.COM CODE OF CONDUCT "4) Posting comments or links in support of illegal activities including, but not limited to, threats against the life of any person, doing harm to a state or federal official, or advocating the overthrow of the government." But really you couldn't use Google to find out how to torrent anonymously?

I am pretty new to linux, but not a total noob Wait...is this against the rules? If you spoof your IP, you will not have an internet connection. Most internet routers perform Reverse Path Forwarding (RPF) checks, meaning if the packet is sourced on an incoming interface that the router doesn't have a route to that network as an outgoing interface then the packet is dropped, especially on customer facing interfaces. "spoofing" an IP address is a thing of the past for connection oriented protocols. |

Granted, it's not like spoofing a MAC address, but there are many ways (and legitimate reasons) to hide where you are going from your ISP, but that's enough said about that given the OP's intended purpose. I'm out. |
| You're not going to be able to spoof your IP. If you wanted a convenient way to do torrents you might look into a seedbox. High bandwidth and plenty of storage depending on your plan. If you pick something like one of the Ubuntu torrents you can see it download in a matter of minutes, then you just ftp it to your location. |

The server you eventually hit when you do this does not see your IP address, but that's more accurately described as "masking". |

Gonna give him the benefit of the doubt, he didn't say he was torrenting illegally copied movies. You can certainly use torrents to move any kind of file, that word doesn't mean unlawful.
OP, learn you about seedboxes as mentioned above or a VPN service to hide traffic from your ISP. |
|
https://whatbox.ca/plans Get a $15/month seedbox in Canananada, then using their bittorrent UI, download your *legal* torrents to the seedbox (Its fast). Then just FTP into the seedbox and download your *legal* media straight to your home computer.

EDITED........ IF someone wanted to spoof an IP...does it really work?? No You are on the ISPs network If you change your WAN IP to another in a range that would work, it would interfere with another user or appear to ATT as an unauthorized user They will quickly investigate where the fuck the bandwidth is going, and it is a very simple task to find where data is flowing |

Tell your thieving nephew to knock that shit off. See, wasn't that an easy to understand technical solution? I once had a client bring a drive to me for data recovery. This is usually charged per GB of recovered content (or, in rare cases, a flat rate). As it turned out, this was the client's son's external drive that he took with him while deployed. There were thousands of photos, many of friends of her son's that didn't make it home. There was also over 200 gigs of porn. I recovered all of the photos and provided them on DVD-R's free of charge with my thanks for her son's service, with a note that if her son asked for anything else from the drive I would be glad to accommodate at my usual per GB rate. |
