In the market for a new SBR preferably an AK SBR. Why is it a factory standard AK sits around 1k new and the very same rifle only with a 10"bbl is generally 1k more? Same rifle only with a short barrel? Am I missing something here? Why are factory SBRs so much more money?

Anyone? Would I just be better off buying an AK pistol for 1k and paying the $200 and adding a stock later on?

Alot of it depends on the manufacturer of the AK SBR, and how "authentic" you want to be.

Buying a pistol, paying for the engraving, swapping out the 922r parts, and then buying a stock and mounting hardware for will be alot less expensive than $2k. Depending on what you start with pistol wise, you could get all of that accomplished for about $1200 out the outside.

If you decide to have an "authentic"/traditionally correct build, acquiring the necessary parts, sending them off to the gunsmith, and paying him for his labor, $2k+ is pretty standard.
