| I have buying some here and there and I really like Balvenie, I used to enjoy Dalwhinnie and I am looking at trying some Dalmore 12 y/o. Is the Dalmore a blend? I know the Balvenie isn't except for a few that they make that out of my price range. |

I share with you my current wish list. Not all of it is Scotch, but what is not is generally considered to have been done in the same style.
Aberlour A'Bunadh Benromach 10Yr Springbank 12yr CS Glen Elgin 12yr/15yr Balcones Texas Single Malt Whisky Aberlour 12 (NCF, 48%) Glenfarclas 12/10 Glendronach Cask Strength Glenfarclas 105 Glendronach 15 Revival Yamazaki 18 Bunnahabhain 12 Balblair 1989/2002/2003 Hibiki 17 Karuizawa Spirit Of Asama Highland Park Dark Origins Macallan Cask Strength Bain's Cape Mountain Whisky St. George Single Malt Whiskey |

Also take a look at 'the malt map' from /r/scotch.
Highland Park 12 was mentioned here, and it is definitely a great place to start -- it is very balanced and sits right in the middle of the map. Determine which flavor profiles you like and branch out from there. http://scotchgit.bitbucket.org/# |

I am heading to Binnys when the fiance gets home, I am picking up a bottle of Monkey Shoulder to try. I had the McCallan 18y/o once and it was good, I do not like a lot of Peat. I am asking about Dalmore because I Usually don't spend a lot on blends. I see you have a tank. I like to go to the Exchange for booze(especially the CGX if you can find one), there can be some real gems such as Glenlivet 18 for $75 |

No, Dalmore is a single malt. The distillery is known for releaseing some of the most
expensive bottlings ever produced. Unfortunately, I don't think their reputation carries over to their younger expressions. I'd skip the 12 yo if I were you. The Dalmore Cigar Malt is very good though. If you like Balvenie, then I'd highly recommend Aberlour as well. Especially A'bunadh. Runs about $65 / 750ml. Damn good stuff. |
