I went down and signed up 3 months before my eligibility date for social security. I know they hold the first payment. Apparently from the the letter from the SS admin. I will not get my first check until three and a half months after my eligibility birthday. Question; will my first check be 2 payments for the 3 months time or just one payment?

They started collecting 50 years ago with my first job in 1965. IWANTMYMONEYNOW!

Anyone know?

It will be the month after your first month of entitlement. SS is paid a month behind. Also it's paid now baised on your dob, 2nd,3rd or 4th Wednesday.

3 gun is correct.  If you are eligible on 1/1/2015, your first check comes in February based on DOB.  Mine comes on the 4th Wednesday.

My birthday was the first week of Nov. last year. The letter from SS says I will get my first payment around Feb 15th. 2015.

I applied online and I didn't have to interact with any humanoids.   I got my check one month after eligibility.
