I know I should post this in DIY, but GD never ceases to amaze me with the amount of info available (after filtering out the GD asshattery, of course).

Currently building the families forever home. The living room/kitchen/dining room is an open floor plan without any walls.......necessitating floor outlets where the end tables will be in the living room. The entire area will be wood floors. My problem is that all of the floor outlets I've found are either cheap plastic, brass, or silver. I don't think any of them will look good or blend in well with the wood floors. So, I come here seeking the collective wisdom of GD. Anyone have floor outlets? What style / color? Do they blend in well

Help me GD, please.

I helped my brother put his floor in with a few outlets.  We strategically placed them where they would be covered by the planned furniture.  I don't even see them when I visit his house.

Brass on wood is never wrong.

Position them to be under the furniture.
I build homes and have floor outlets in every home and use the brass covers with wood and tile and they look fine to me and thats in an empty home.
Never had a homeowner say anything either and believe me if they looked out of place at all I would have heard it by now.

Yup, it will tarnish and have a nice patina after use. You could help it along as well.

Check regulations because some now require outlets at least 18" form floor so kids don't stick metal in there....

That might be nation code

YMMV

On my phone but look up Walker floor boxes and Hubbell floor boxes. They make trims in various colors.

Can you recite a code article for that? That's what tamper proof receptacles are for.

I am a builder and that's what we do.  We do precise planning due to here in SW Florida it is concrete slabs, no basement to move term easily.

you can mount the outlets below the floor and use sliding wood trapdoors to access the panel.

this sounds like an awesome idea.   especially  you decide to rearrange the floor plan slightly.   your not married to a single setup

I installed 2 when I built our house. I used the brass covers and they are fine for a wood floor.

ONe is covered by the couch and the other we only use for the Christmas tree that is in the middle of an arch with no walls around.

Works out pretty good.

I suppose you could custom make a cover from the same wood as your floors but the brass ones I have work good and only stick up about 1/8" or so from being flush.

Don't over-think it. It is just an outlet.
