I've been looking at the ChromeCast. Can I get some opinions on it? |

| You can cast any tab in Chrome from your device to a Chromecast. Some apps and sites (Youtube, Twitch, Hulu, Netflix, HBOGO...) have built in google cast support. There are apps in the Play Store that allow you to cast anything you want to your Chromecast. I have a Chromecast (bedroom) and a Nexus Player (living room). The casting works the same across the google devices. |

A friend asked me the same question a month ago. He doesn't have a smart tv but does have a hdmi input. I told him if I didn't already have a smart TV I would already own the Chromecast as it's dirt cheap and basically turns a regular TV into a smart tv. He bought it and loves it. Another friend has the same TV as I do but bought the Chromecast just to check it out. He tells me there is no advantage if you already have a smart TV.
For the minimal cost I would think its a no brainer. I'm still constantly tempted to get one just to play with it. |

Love it. Replaced my HTPC with Chrome Cast and Plex. Wife (no pics) can now use her pad or phone to watch anything from our 10tb raid 5 dnla video server by 2 clicks on her screen. 1080p 5.1 audio for $35

The casting works the same across the google devices. you can cast from most new tablets. they must be on a newer release of android. not all are supported and i have found several that aren't. |

yep, but not all video function on those sites work. i specifically have some movie sites that don't. |
