I believe fully this is more of a "Chick Flick" then a guy movie.
The fact that Maverick and Goose were more than just "both in the Navy " is really good. Military life really doesn't transfer well to civilian life. Watching any of the Article 15 clothing vids confirms this..... |

I don't know about being a "great" movie, but it was a memorable movie, as in taking you back to that time in your life.
It made all the early-20something guys want to join and fly fighters and look all GQ while doing it. And ride Interceptor motorcycles (or Ninja, whatever it was). I was one of those. Just like movies and games about grunt badassedness are doing today. But looking at it now, it's so cheesy. A contractor gal debriefing the RFMDS (sorry, I was AF)? A guy dying because the canopy didn't blow before the seat? Hollywood at it's unauthentic best. |
