Can a SIM card be shared between two devices?  I Have Sprint galaxy s4 and a Sprint tab3.  The phone has an unlimited data plan but the tab does not, so I was thinking maybe I could put my phone SIM card in the tab and have unlimited data.  Is this possible and what are, if any, the concerns?

In theory, that is exactly what SIM cards are supposed to do (and what they do in many places outside the US).
But it really depends on what Sprint has done to lock the devices.

I'd say it should work, but I've never done it with a Sprint SIM.

There's nothing 'stealing' about this, at all.  Period.

Not sure exactly if that would work but as long as they have the same size sim I don't see why not. I swap the SIM card out of my kids phone onto a "spare" old phone when they break their current one. My daughter had to use a phone with only a keypad for about a week, she is more careful of her phone now

Can you turn the phone into a wifi hotspot?

I'm sure that there's something illegal about trying to make the most out of something you paid for.

This is Amerika, after all.

I don't think it's gonna work.

Sprint is a CDMA carrier like Verizon. The sim is only to facilitate LTE data on Sprint but everything else is tied to the phones IMEI.

Even on GSM carriers like T-Mobile and ATT moving a sim from a phone to a tablet can be problematic although phone to phone usually will work.

Edit: Nevermind, thinking of something else.

Should work, if it requires a larger Sim card then buy the adapter kit for $1 on ebay. If you can make it a WiFi hotspot then even better!

this was my thought,  when I had sprint I had to call them and spent a while on the phone changing the imei to switch phones

now I am with a carrier that is gsm and have switched my sim to a few different phones.  no call to customer service needed.

Thanks for the info.  Sprint had a thing the other night where if you add a tab to your plan, the tab was free and no connection fee.  1g of data for $15 a month.  Would hate to slide my phone SIM in thinking it was working and get racked with overage.  And if this is illegal, please inform.  Hot spot won't work.  My technology level is slightly above ignorant.  Only use an actual computer for reports, the rest of the time I'm on my phone.
