Well which is it? Real or fake? I ordered and then cancelled. do you know where ACOGs are made? I'm going out on a limb and saying no. Trijicon is based in Wixom, Michigan. They got a lot of heat not too long ago for having data on their nameplates that was actually Biblical citations. In other words, if it says "import" it's definitely NOT an actual ACOG. |
| There is no Tritium in these fake scopes. If there is any reticle illumination, it is battery powered. Optics and coatings are poor quality. Housings are not airtight. Housings are simply die-cast aluminum, not nearly as strong as the real ones. However, they actually do work. I bought one much cheaper than these mainly to see if I liked the platform without risking much money. I sighted it in with no problem and it fired to the same spot every time. I had to work on it a few times; the reticle disc shot loose and clocked, the eye piece backed out during shooting and the mounting was flimsy. I glued the reticle disc and eye piece in place and also Loctited the scope into the mount. But, I did like it and eventually I saw a deal on the real thing and got one. Shoots the same as the fake, eye relief is the same, glass is a little clearer and of course it has Tritium and is nitrogen-filled. Now here's something funny; the fake ACOG adjustments were 1/4" at 100, but the real one is 1/2" at 100. Many more expensive scopes sold under various brand names are made in China, like the 'SIGARMS' CP4 scope I have on my SIG 556R which sells for around $200. I have to admit it actually is a little crazy to have more $ in a 4X combat scope than in the rifle itself, particularly for those not routinely involved in combat. But its also nice to know that the thing is totally dependable and long-term combat-tested. This is a secure feeling you will never have with a replica. |
