I posted in the past how I was put into a leadership role when someone stepped down. Now we have a new boss. They are going to keep me in some kine of leadership role but my usual and routine duties---I have to make a choice.

24 hour shifts, very busy, potential to run ass off.  7-9 of those a month. One specialized type of work.

10-12-13 hour shifts rotating, Varied assignments and locations.

I've been healthcare since I was 19 (I'm 44 now). Many night shifts (32 and 36 hrs)  and I don't bounce back as quick as I used to.

So---give in to being middle aged and accept that I like to sleep in my own bed. Have a varied schedule and assignments

OR

Say fuck it!!!!!  I'm not giving in!!! I can still run and gun. One type of duty that isn't awesome.
more days off.

I won't mention the mountain of other shit I'll still get to do.

24 hour duty would suck unless you were like a fireman on duty for 24 hours. Fighting fires 24hours would suck.

I hate rotating shifts so I would have to go with the 24 hour deal.

I'm 43, screw rotating shifts. My brother has been on that DuPont schedule for 16 years and hates life.

I'm thinking I might just do that.
And as my buddy says, if I don't like it, some young guy will take the 24 hr shift.

I'm thinking about it.
Disability and a trailer park sound pretty good some days.
I'm tired.
