Looking for a defrag program for my desktop. Suggestions?

Quoted: Get an SSD, and never defrag again. ![]() No, but you do have to TRIM. http://www.buildcomputers.net/trim-support.html |

I understand the first part and what's a UART? And yes I'm running XP. Quoted:

Also be sure to delete your cookies and make sure you've got a 16550 UART for full connection speeds. I understand the first part and what's a UART? And yes I'm running XP. If you have a NTFS file system, do not defrag it. There's no reason to. If you're using FAT, then just use the Windows integrated one. |

Damn dude, time for an upgrade. XP has a manual defragger built in. No point to a third party. More modern OSes do it themselves. The 16550 UART was a computing concern of a different era, much like cookies and defragging would be to anyone running an OS made this decade. |

No, but you do have to TRIM. http://www.buildcomputers.net/trim-support.html Not really. http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/2385372/ssds-can-last-much-much-longer-than-manufacturers-say |

Quoted: And yes I'm running XP. Just in case you didn't already know, Microsoft has stopped support for XP and will no longer be patching security problems. As time goes on, your system will become more and more vulnerable to hack attacks. There are already a few known ones that will not be fixed. You should strongly consider upgrading to a newer version of Windows as soon as possible. Windows 7 is my personal favorite of the currently supported ones. |

The 16550 UART was a serial chip, which allowed you to connect a modem to your computer at a higher speed. It allowed a high speed serial link between the modem and computer, which would let you get the most out of a high speed modem. |
