I'm in need of some tie downs to help secure a 4-wheeler and UTV to a trailer. They don't need to be long--only about 3-4ft max, but they need to be durable. The 4 pairs of "Smartstraps" brand ones we bought with the two vehicles have all broken, and they need to be replaced with a buy once/cry once option.

Is there a specific brand to look that is significantly more durable than any others? Preferably something that would be available locally.

Here is what we're working with:

ANCRA were always the best cam buckle straps. If you are talking ratchet straps I don't know.

The straps need to be rated for your load. Don't cheap out. I don't use the 1500 pound straps for my four wheeler. Look up crash pics of towed loads using those little straps.

We get straps from here. They have a wide range of cheap to expensive straps.

http://www.rigidhitch.com/ is another vendor we have ordered from in the past.

YELLOW 2 INCH STRAPS FROM LOWES, ABOUT 16 BUCKS A SET.  OR...
CHECK OUT A COMPANY CALLED AW DIRECT, THEY SELL STUFF FOR TOWING AND YOU CAN REALLY GO CRAZY AND GET THE STRAPS THAT FIT AROUND THE WHEEL LIKE A REAL TOW TRUCK USES.

We just use chains and come alongs for anything over about 200 lbs.

Less broken straps that way.

Whatever you choose, go with a ratchet-type instead of the push-button ones.

Yes

I've found I don't need ratchets on motorcycles because I compress the suspension as I tighten them, giving me tension in the straps.
Ancra makes a ratchet motorcycle strap called the Ancra - Rat Pak

CGU1/B is the only option.
