This one is in use here as well.

Many years ago I worked in an office building with a lot of visiting engineers from Asia. One day, we had emergency vehicles show up for a medical emergency in the bathroom. A visiting engineer had tried standing on the toilet seat as shown in the left example of the picture. The seat shifted, and the guy fell face first into the stall door, knocking himself out and causing other injuries. That toilet seat had a shoe scuff mark on it for the next year or more.

Oh, man.

A vintage can of M1911 pistols at Springfield Armoury. Reportedly, this is how the US military packed pistols for airdropping.

I could see a porcelain factory having pin plates to hold ceramics in the kiln

maybe in a big set up they have racks of pins that move up and down as the ceramic plates move through a production line

the 2018 UK article claims:
The accident resulted in him being impaled with foot long, half-inch thick metal rods, the People's Daily reported.

He was first taken to a local hospital before he was transferred to the Xiangya Hospital of Central South University due to the severity of his injuries.

Six steel rods fixed on a steel plate pierced his right shoulder and chest, and four penetrated elsewhere in his body.

so they were threaded on a plate and they had to get them un threaded from the plate before getting him fixed up?

gnarley!

So how do you think that worked? If it was just one you could stabilize the patient and the rod and spin both or even the plate, but with four? Unless each rod is separately articulated, that means that dude had to lay there as someone backed each one of them out, slowly twisting in his body.

Yeah, it was the front wheel that caught my eye.  From the angles involved I'm wondering if there wasn't some significant hang time before the onset of pain.

Ten, not four.

It's possible that they slide into the plate and are secured with a nut but I think it's more likely that they thread into the plate.

It definitely wasn't a good day for him...

I was just getting ready to ask about this photo. It makes the current "man-on-stand" engine checks on the C-130 look kind of tame.
