If I just unplug a router, will that kill the wifi broadcast but allow the router part to function, or is the router part powered?

If it needs to be powered, how do I access it and turn off the wifi? Have not been in its settings for years. Don't need or want that broadcast anymore.

It needs to be powered. Admin to http://192.168.1.1 (this address varies between router mfr) and log in. In the settings menus you should be able to turn off the wifi radio.
