Did you know we have a dynamite shoot in western Colorado? Yep , twice a year the Volunteer Fire Department of Gateway puts on the most fun shooting/firearms event I have ever attended. If I remember correctly, some 80% of the budget is funded by these events. Gateway is located on HWY 141 very near the Utah state line. 100 yard any gun off hand, 300-500+ hunting rifle from a bench at no more than 6x scope, big dogs unlimited...800+. Also off hand at moving targets any gun and a handgun best of five shots shoot. Burgers from the grill & chip + pop by the local high school (20 kids per year). This shoot is unique in that targets are placed on a red sandstone hill sloping up from the benches. More like a hunt than a day at the range. Gateway must be the capital of the world for "Good Ol' Boys". Travel to Gateway this spring and bring a $100 to spend...14 year old Sean won $84 at the last shoot from 3 time lighting off a pop can full of dynamite! 243 M70/handloads. Shot his first Elk this fall also. www.acsol.net/~firedept/dynamite.html |
