A lot of their stuff is garbage...some is great, but most is cheap one time use tools. I bought a 4" angle grinder to notch the tie rod ends on my Aerostar to get them off. Still going strong 10 years later. Two summers ago I used it daily to sharpen mower blades when I was mowing lawns of foreclosed houses for a living. |

Like others have said, some of it is junk, some of it not bad. +1 You have to check the GarageJournal HF go/no-go thread to find out what is good and what will kill you or ruin your project. Kharn This Good for infrequent use tools, or some, like their angle grinder, just won't die! |

I know most of their stuff sucks...but this is an awesome buy. I've used mine for over 3 years now, and it's performed flawlessly! Charge it once every few months, and it's gtg. http://www.harborfreight.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/i/m/image_23456.jpg Like anything from HF, look for coupons. I paid 30 bucks for mine. Mines red but awesome. Did you finally find your cord

I just go for the weird smell and free flashlights. Don't forget the tarps. I used to buy their tarps to cover some gear outside. The past year they seem to deteriorate much quicker. Switch to another store. We'll see how it goes. |
| I've bought some stuff there. Good for cheap things that you don't use often, or for things that aren't life threatening if they fail. And some of their tools have a lifetime warranty... so if their cheap wrenches snap or something, you just go to the store and get a new set for free. |

Harbor Freight has tons of great, high quality tools. I buy about everything there anymore and most everything is well above expectations. I have never bought anything from HF, but from everything I have heard if the tools last past the first use they have exceeded expectations. So that is not a very high bar. |

I've got a lot of tools from Harbor Freight. I can say that I've broke far more Craftsman sockets, ratchets and screw drivers than I have Harbor Freight tools. The Craftsman stuff seems to be brittle, you can hear it crack when it gives up. Since 90% of Craftsman is now made in China . . . they likely come from the same factory. |

I try to buy american but I have bought some products made in USA that were shit and that's extra disappointing to me. Who in America makes hand tools? My understanding is that even much of Snap On's and MAC's tools are made overseas now. |

Harbor Freight has tons of great, high quality tools. I buy about everything there anymore and most everything is well above expectations. That doesn't match my experience. I have bought a handful of decent tools from them, but the majority have been shitty single use type of stuff. I do buy chip brushes and 2 wheeled dollies from them. |
| Like there impact sockets. Price is right. Have broken Craftsman and Snap-on impact sockets but never a HF. I have a straight HF die grinder I purchased 25 years ago and beat the piss out of. A few years ago I bought an Ingersol-Rand die grinder. It crapped out after about 9 months. Dragged out the old HF die grinder and it's still going strong. The breaker bars and extensions are a good deal. I buy them and put them in each car for lug nuts. Power tools are not bad. Just watch what you buy. The prices on compound mitre saw's are not much cheaper than getting a good quality name brand on sale. |
