Did this Sailor have to stand five consecutive 12 hour watches? And, wasn't a .50 caliber a little heavy for a hostage situation?
local news story The 2013 Oscar-winning movie "Captain Phillips" with Tom Hanks was based on an actual mission to save the real Captain Phillips after his cargo ship was hijacked by Somali pirates.
One of the Navy veterans who helped save him is a UT student who now works to help other student vets transition into college. “That was the longest four days of my entire life," said Melina Gardner.
The 26-year-old college senior was manning a .50-caliber machine gun for 60 straight hours. Her job was to watch the enemy's every move.
