Is anyone even going?
I've never gone before and it's the nearest shoot, since I don't feel like driving to Knob Creek or Texas.
I've heard people just mention it on here but their opinions don't seem to positive.  Is it a bad event or something?

What's so bad about it?

The event itself was absolutely great.  It was one of the best three day periods in my (and my wife's) life--due to the comraderie of fellow ARFCOM'rs.  There were issues afterward that could not be resolved, mostly involving donated prizes.  This, and a few other things that do not bear being aired again, resulted in a situation where the owners of this site felt that withdrawal as a sponsor was necessary.  ARFCOM members were referred to as "minor contributors" on another forum board by those who organized the event, so it is doubtful many members from here will attend.  By all means, do as you see fit.  I have nothing bad to say about it.  I always encourage everyone to attend all functions with "gun people."  Gun people are the best people.  If you have more specific questions, feel free to contact me via IM or e-mail.  [:)]

Long story short.  The organizers of the last BRC were former members off this site.  I stress former due to some alleged "shady" backdoor financial dealings.

I'll leave it at that.

By all means..make your plans now! There will all kinds of guns and...loads of entertainment! Fun for the whole family!! Especially the drunk, skinny, naked guy that runs through the camp at night!

You will love the door prizes also...

Maybe someone can show pics from last year's event.

I went last year, and I will probably go this year - it was great.  There were some obvious problems that will probably get worked out if it survives a few more years.  The site at Harpole's Lodge is excellent, but the river bottom site for the scheutzenfest was hot, dry, dirty and dusty; not conducive to fun for kids (or my girls anyway). There is plenty of info here about the non-obvious problems or you can email BK1.  [Mike don't toast me for my post on this topic!]

BTW, Scooby223, last year's BRC was the first.  You should have seen the love fest on this board afterwards - even the current naysayers had a good time.

Come to the next Mid-Missouri shoot; I guarantee you will have fun.  Bring guns, ammo, scuba gear (just in case) or at least rubber boots, sunscreen, warm clothes, something junk to shoot, and something to haul extremely perforated junk off in.  Bring tannerite if you have it.  Did I mention bring lots of ammunition?

I might make the Texas shoot, but holding it when school is in session makes it much harder for me to take off.

This topic is no longer off limits.  GoatBoy wanted it kept out for a month or so until things calmed down, but it has been allowed for a month or better.

Scooby223, as mentioned by AeroE, check the Hometown forum under "Missouri" for info on the next Mid Mo shoot.  It is tentatively scheduled for sometime in April (date not set yet) and is held just north of Columbia at a very nice range.

Knob Creek is well worth the drive....you name it its there. The gun show is unlike anything you ever seen. Four of take the trip every year. Cuts down on the travel expenses. Machine guns during the day, titty bars at night.

Bring lots of [green]CASH.[/green]

I had a blast at last year's event. To be honest, the only reason I'm not going this year is because I'm definitely going to make the Tejas shindig. I doubt I'll be able to get time off to do both shoots, and the main reason I went last year was because of this site and the folks here. If I had time and money for both, I'd go to both. Since I have to pick one though....   I just need to know what weekend in October and I will have to decide whether to drive or fly. I'll be there though, even if I have to take a bus!!! (not bloody likely!!!!)
Besides, I half Texan, genetically speaking.

Yes it was a fun time. The best part was meeting everyone, ETH, Don R, Jarhead, Arock, The Beekeeper, Goatboy and all the Avila family. I know I'm leaving out 100's more that I shook hand's with.

A picture is worth a thousand word's, wish I had one that [I think it was Ed] was taken from the ultralight as we were all waving.

If it can be done, I'm looking forward to spring and fall this year.
