Yeah? I know this is a gun site and we hate fudds but I gotta brag on this one a little.

I've been bow hunting for several years.  I've really wanted to kill a nice deer for my 1st bow kill.  I had given up last year and shot a doe but didn't kill her.  Actually got her in camera about a month and a half later all healed up.

Anyways, today was opening day in our zone in Alabama. I saw this deer this AM and he needed to take two more steps for me to have a shot but onenofntheniyher bucks in the field busted me and they hauled ass.

I was hesitant to return to the same spot this afternoon but did anyways.

I was actually drawn back to shoot another deer when he (and the others he was with) looked behind me.  This little guy walked right under my ladder stand and have me a 1/4ing away shot at 26 yds.

The damn coyotes got to him a little bit before we got there.

Damn nice!

My first bow kill was a nasty ass Javelina boar.

I learned an important lesson that day.

Just an ex wife.  You prob don't want pics.

125gr spitfires
Luminocks are awesome btw

And this year I went to feathers ILO plastic fletchings.  And they're pink and white.  I don't want to hear any shit about it.  My daughters think its cool.

I shot him about 2" too far back (if that). The arrow went in just behind the ribs on his left side.  Buried in the right front shoulder so I could see that green luminock running out of the field.

There was a nice blood trail but of course he was down deep in some briar filled shit.  He went maybe 80 yds.

We've been watching this one on camera for the last 3 years. Pretty sure he's 5
That's about maxed out where we hunt. We rarely see 6+ yo deer.

Nice.  I hate you.  I haven't gotten my first yet.

What kind of bow?  You get him from a stand or on the ground?  Did you know we have an Archery Forum on this gun site?

Awesome!  What kind of bow / draw weight?

About how far was the shot?

LOL @ the pink.

I shoot a Diamond something or another. 60#s

I was in a ladder stand nestled in between two water oaks and a pine.  Those 2 water oaks are not dropping.  The 3 on the other side if the field are.  I actually had a shot at this guy this am under those other oaks but I will not let myself shoot beyond 30 yds.  Closest one is 42 steps.

Congrats!  Bow hunting is my favorite.  I've not gotten comfortable enough up here to use just a stick and string, but eventually I will.  Again, congrats on your harvest!

Congrats!  Nice looking deer, op.

The act of hunting doesn't make you a fudd in my book. That takes the exclusion of all firearms not "suited to the purpose of hunting".

That being said, I am hoping to get my first bow kill this year as well. I'm running out of time to get out there though.

ANY bow kill is an accomplishment unless it's your neighbors cat
and DAMN! What a first kill!

I've hunted elk 9+ years, no kill yet.  Deer 10+,  killed two small bucks mostly through luck.  but seriously, I'm pretty sure they has spots on them. Not like that monster!  I'm jealous.

Thx y'all!

He's got a split brow tine on his right. You can see it better in this pic.

Also, I hunt in Alabama, not FL!

A buck like that in FL would damn sure be something!
