I'm looking to get a few surplus gas cans. I have the very old style but finding a workable spout is dicey at best. I see these all over eBay:
gas cans are these mile spec or mil surplus (which I doubt). Anyone have experience with these? |

I want to know why they changed gas cans in the first place. I spill FAR more gas with these stupid EPA compliant cans than I ever did with an old school can. The vapors heat up and swell the can until it spews in the summer...so what was the benefit of changing them?
Fuck the EPA |

4 cans for 500$?! ETA: I have had good luck with the 20-30$ chink cans. No stupid spout, metal is alright. Quoted:

Just buy the fuxxored new civvie cans and un-fuxxor them. It really isn't that difficult. Or fill from a siphon. That's what I do, whenever possible. Like build your own spout? And which can? |

Fuck the EPA I found aftermarket nozzle kits at Tractor Supply Store that do away with the bullshit, they are only for pre-ban cans., or so they say. They work great, about $12 a kit. One kit fixed two of my cans so it was a steal.

You don't have to build your own spout. Just perform a little surgery to fix the one they come with. Then just add a vent to the body of the can. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lcnwdIYEfI |

I'm wondering if they're the same thing? They are, and work fine...I've got several. I think I paid 50 bucks for mine from Old Grouch, there's a vid online that shows how to tell the real from fake. You can spot the differences in seconds, things like spot welds etc... |

LC Gas Jug
I use these. I recommend the white ones so you can see the fuel level. You have to buy the spout hose separately but its only $6 and doesnt have that carb bullshit on it. Just a straight up thick plastic gas jug and pour spout. |

Buy some of these. |

You're welcome. |

Yup, that's where I got mine. |

I have 8 jerry cans and have zero use for any type of spout adapter. Get a Super Siphon or two. Why hold up a 5 gallon can while it drains? Give the super siphon a few shakes, walk away and come back to an empty can. Cause a 5 gallon can isn't unwieldy enough to bother with a siphon? |
