I am 27 and never hunted, let alone kill an animal. Well except that damn squirrel that ran in front of my car.
However, I have been wanting to go hunting ever since I bought my Beretta a400. I was thinking about going to a pheasant farm and trying it out. Any ideas on how to cook it? Or should I try something else first? Killing a deer isn't my thing, I couldn't gut the damn thing. Now if someone is cleaning the bird for 2-5 bucks I'm all in. |

I went hunting a few times (deer and turkey). Never killed anything. Saw a rattlesnake though. Deer hunting in eastern North Carolina is fucking stupid. Thats why archery is the way to go for deer, IMO. Shotgun + public land = massive amounts of stupid. |

Quoted: Dunno just never had an ambition to go out and kill something when I have food at home. Hell I've never even had pheasant, duck, quail.....etc nor do I know what it tastes like. There's a certain feeling I get when I have access to the same food you do, except I didn't need anyone elses help to get it :) |

Never been hunting either. Too much work to kill, clean then cook. Rather go to Carl's Jr. Leave your moms basement and join us men So are you saying you know how to make deer burgers? |
| Where ya located OP? Im in kansas. The first time i went hunting (deer) was 4 years ago. I've now shot 6 deer, dressed the last 4 on my own. Its a great satisfaction to be able use my firearms to provide food. I am not a trophy hunter, i've only taken 1 buck. I hunt for the meat. I'm not very good at it, i dont scent block or wear camo (unless its really cold(TA-50)). My buddie's father taught me how to hunt. Now i have a skill that i'll be passing down to my children. Ask anybody that you know that hunts to take you. |

Probably even have a begginner's special or some such. The local gun club should be able to hook you up with a hunter safety course. You might even meet somebody willing to let you tag along. You know, carry shells and water for the dogs and such... I cook birds in a brown'n'bag or make stir fry our of them. |
| I'll admit I've never hunted either. My dad hunted, but by the time I was 5-6 he had a severe back injury that plagued the rest of his life. I never got the opportunity to go with him. I've wondered how it would have effected my life if he had been able to take me. I would probably go if someone offered a trip, but there really isn't any public hunting land around here, and getting a lease is expensive. Just not something I'm too concerned with at this point in my life. |

I found a local farm about twenty minutes from me. Hunting is pretty big up here though. I've just always target shot. I do believe hunters safety is required but have no idea if after x age you don't need it or what. Yes I've been fishing before caught shit but never took it back. Neither the wife nor I eat seafood. I know, we are weird. My dad wants to go out pig hunting and have said id go for years, just never have gone. When I was a kid he would go out hunting but I just never went with him. He always offered, even offered to dress my first deer for me, but never took him up on the offer. |

I've never been hunting. I've killed quite a few pests (mostly woodchucks).
I told my uncle to take me deer hunting. He said no problem, but if I get one, I have to gut it and everything. I have a weak stomach for that stuff. I haven't been hunting yet.
I do really want to go, though. I've never taken my own food, but I want to. |
| I too am not a big hunter, I have hunted and killed deer and moose and rabbits, cleaned them and eaten them but that was in my younger years, just to know how to do it .But I have no interest in it anymore. Just as soon go to Fred Meyer and buy a steak. I still do like the stalking part of the hunt though! |
