They are so amazing, and have been for so many decades.  I love me some vintage ZZ.

Billy must have one the most outstanding guitar collections in all the world.

I've seen them live at least 6 times. Maybe a couple more I don't remember right now.

I was always amazed  that he can play lead and rhythm at the same time. Phe-fuckin'-nominal!

If you've never seen them live...whadda fuck's wrong with you?

Their early stuff was great. When they went 80's pop, my opinion of them slipped a bit. Recycler was a great return to their roots though.

CSB warning:

I was supposed to see them in 2005, but hurricane Wilma blew that.

I'll have to catch them soon, if they're still alive.

The first time I heard them do Viva Las Vegas was live. Just blew me away. They had exotic dancers on big shadow screens
and moved around stage on conveyers.

Maybe theres concerts I have enjoyed more, but not by much.

ETA I got a speeding ticket once from the Ga State Patrol. I was haulin ass in my ol 72 Challenger.
When the nice policeman asked me why I was in such a hurry,(I knew I was gettin the ticket...)

Saw them in the Afterburner tour in the Omni in Atlanta.  It was 1986

That was one amazingly great concert.

The setup was like the dashboard of a classic chevy or something (everything was analog).   At some point there was a bunch of smoke that rose up and hid the stage, as the smoke cleared the dash of the car had changed from analog to digital.  The guitarists were on top of the speakers with their spinning guitars going.  It was incredible.

Well I was rollin' down the road in some cold blue steel,
I had a bluesman in the back, and a beautician at the wheel.
We're going downtown in the middle of the night
We was laughing and I'm jokin' and we feelin' alright.
Oh I'm bad, I'm nationwide.
Yes I'm bad, I'm nationwide.

Those are some of my favorite bands. I prefer the 70's ZZ Top. More real rock and blues. Tres Hombres, Fandango and Tejas... well, any 70's album.  I'm old school, or maybe just old.

And notice how Billy really never has any reverb or much other DSP in his sound chain, beyond the clipping (I guess the popular term today is tone)?.  It's just naked true perfection in guitar mastery.
