pretty sure I just had a browser hijack, how do I fix the problem?

I just deleted all of the cookies from my history, but that hasn't solved anything

Recently repaired a hijack in my step-critter's PC with MalwareBytes.  Fixed several problems that Norton AV didn't find.

You won't get all of it out unless you know what you're doing.  I don't so I went here.  I created an account, posted my issues, they posted scans, fixes, downloads, etc., and cleaned my pc up.  It was free and I learned a few things.

YMMV

You need malware bytes but that wont fix it alone. You will need to clear all of the internet data not just cookies from ALL of your browsers and then you will need a program that deletes spyware in your registry. I had one on my old PC it sucked, took me about 30 minutes of research to fix it, it was not fun. The beauty of having a new self built computer and external hard drives for important data is that if this happens you can just reinstall windows in 10 minutes.

Those idiots at MS could make it easy to fix so many problems by installing windows to a seperate partition by default.

ADWCleaner

Thank me later. It's by far the simplest and fastest program I have ever used.
