I just completed my refinishing jobs on a 1927 91/30 and a 1943 M38.

I am not really interested in the collectors value so I went with a color that I like. I went with Red Oak 215 with Tung Oil finish. 8 days, here is the finished product.

It's not  the absolute professional best, but really like it. gonna wait a week do the whole, 1 a day for a week, 1 a week for a month, 1 a month for a year, 1 a year for life starting with the 1 a week for a month.

Both

Looks good.  Did you use a pre-stain conditioner to prevent a blotchy finish?

I did, worked great on the M38 but there were some areas on the 91/30 that I just couldnt get to work completely right. It still looks good though.

No matter how well i conditioned the stock, i couldn't get rid of these
