I got ahold of a nice barn fresh propeller.  Its only about 4 feet long, so I would assume it came off an old windmill.  Anyway, I like these things and use them as wall hangers.  So should I sand it down, clean it up, and repaint or just leave as barn fresh?  What say ye?

I would leave as is.

Leave as is, that's character right there.

I've always wanted a propeller ceiling fan.

I'd "restore" it so it has no value.

if you go that route, don't use the barn fresh 4 ft propeller.

The other properller I got would be much better suited.  Its a 6ft wooden propeller off an airboat

Your barn fan was an exhaust or circulator fan.

I figure as much, its way to small to propel something like an airplane.  I still like it, still not sure if I want to repaint or not.

Clean it up.  Be careful with strippers, don't use one that will pit the aluminum.

For anyone curious, I went for the restore.  It just looked too ugly for the wall.  Its not perfect, but I like how it turned out.

LOL, they are already hard enough to find.  I have 3 now, 2 wooden and one metal.  The metal ones are less desirable and the wood ones already cost an arm and a leg.  I was lucky to find 2 in one trip!
