We usually watch youtube at night when putting my son to bed.  However, a couple days ago it started scrambling the vids.  The sound works fine but it looks like butcher-block and in gray tones.

I tried...

Calling verizon, they called youtube who was actually google.  Out of everyone and all the time spent the suggestion was to clear the history/data/etc.  and then to uninstall/re-install and restart the phone.  Still didn't work.

Any ideas?

Thanks

You could try one of the other youtube viewing apps and see what happens

Mine started doing the same I just skip forward then immediately go back to beginning. fixes the scramble every time for me.

Mine has been doing that on occasion recently.

I just close the video and click on it again.  Might take 2 times, but it will finally play the video normally.  Its definitely something new.

s3.  Phone works perfect except this issue.

Never heard of a task killed but other than a couple web pages, words with friends, and my email, nothing else is running that I know of.

I tried the replay and skip around suggestions and now I'm seeing something even more strange.  It seems like clarity and color are fighting to work.  It's almost as if the gray butcher-block is a bug or a corrupted file and the good file with clarity and color it trying to break through.  I know I'm giving an app way too much credit here but that's what I'm seeing.  And still no real clarity.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

I have an S3, too.

Push and hold the Home button.  Click "Close All".  Push/hold the Home key again and go to Task Manager.  Should open up to RAM.  Scroll down to Clear Memory.  Click it.

You should do that every so often anyway.  It keeps the phone speedy.  I do it a couple times a day.

If that doesnt work, try what I said:  If a video goes grey and blocky, hit the Back key (on the phone, not the app) so it minimizes the video.  Swipe it to the right to close it.  Reopen video.  Works for me.

Having the same problem on my LG tablet.    Sometime it fixes itself partway through the vid -sometimes it doesn't.  I have autorotate off, maybe watching in landscape rather than portrait would help.

Reading through a bunch of tech forums (written in ancient mesopotamian I think - it's certainly not english) I kind of think its a buffering issue - but I have no idea what to do with it.

I tried a different vid app that was rated highly - got nothing but a blank screen.

I had the same issue after Youtube updated. I ended up clearing the cache and data for my Youtube app and it worked fine.

Yes, I did that this afternoon while talking to Verizon.  No change.

Also tried uninstalling an re-installing.

Whatever this is, it seems to be dug in pretty well.
