Ive debated whether or not to post this on here as it reveals my true name.
But here is a message I am trying to put out there. I wont go into detail about it as in the video description it says everything I have to say about it. Share as you please Thanks http://youtu.be/JI8HWIqYDkQ |

That was a nice gesture. I would have brought the food to him though. You never know, he could have tried to rob you with a knife while you were driving. Yes, I threw a disclaimer in the video. It was a risk I took, however I have thought about doing this for a few days and the benefits outweighed the risk to me. Honestly one of the nicest guys I have ever met. He was absolutely dumbfounded as to what to say most the time. We just sat around in the park and talked for awhile. His most prized possession is a radio from the early 90s that he listens to local sports on. A radio being his most prized possession really puts things into perspective to me. |

It's noble in intent, but there are issues.
Save you buy a bum a burger and he thinks, "A stranger helped me, a bum." He then gets motivated and pulls his life together. Score 1. Now said bum is well to do, marries, has a kid and the kid turns out to be Idi Amin/Stalin/Mao/Hitler/Pol Pot/Dear Leader. Score -1. Better to let the bum starve then. Not to knock OP and his noble deed, but I'm just acknowledging an issue and I'm not sure what the solution is. I know one thing. That act of compassion is a very decent gesture. |

The issue is if all the foreign aid we sent overseas, was instead used here, this wouldn't be the issue it is here in America. I personally never donate to charities. One reason being I just don't have the money to donate. Another being I don't always trust where they use it. I also never give homeless money either. I had that bite me once before. But I have no problem giving food to someone who is hungry. I honestly think what shocked this man the most was my willingness just to sit and talk with him for awhile. He told me that no one has ever done that for him before. Youll get a feeling you cannot describe if you ever give it a shot. I got this idea a few weeks back as I was driving to lunch and came up on a man holding a sign saying homeless and hungry. I use to try and look away and ignore their existence. That's when I realized I was part of the problem. |
