| I was pretty interested in one when they were announced then it kind of fizzled out from lack of info and delays. Now that they are out I was thinking about it again. So has anyone gotten one? How is it? What's the range like in the dark? |

What's it like to carry around a laptop that Samsung tries to call a phone?

The useful range of the FlirOne is extremely limited. It's a cool piece of tech that has some uses, but specifically identifying anything at any meaningful distance isn't it's strong point. Some guy here took a photo of his cat at like 15 feet away and it was an unidentifiable orange blob. |

I was just wondering if it could pick up something the size of a person or dear or dog at say 100ft? Even if it isn't identifiable. |

The range is going to depend a lot on ambient conditions - i.e., how much the object's temperature contrasts with that of its surroundings. If a deer is standing in 3 foot of snow - in -40 degree weather - Then maybe. |

Per me emails with FLIR Customer Service (couple of months ago), S5 is the next likely planned target. Maybe around the first of 2015 I hope? Would be of good use to me on a daily basis testing calibrations for diesels. Quick cylinder balance check by taking a glance at manifolds, etc. 1000 automotive uses. |

Is there a stand alone unit in that price point Soon, from a group of industry veterans at a startup called Seek Thermal this fall plan to begin selling an add-on camera for smartphones for about $100 less than Flir One. Both iPhone and Android. No further news on which model of iPhone yet. Seek Thermal facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Seek-Thermal/628554970550411 |
