I have a beautiful Mont Blanc fountain pen after giving up on the Cross gold sets.

but I end up writing about nothing every year now that I have email and electronic checks so the fountain pen ends up resting without a cartridge in it's pretty box nearly all the time.

I second this. Pilot G2  but get the mini. You can put it in your front pants pocket and squat down without breaking it.

I am kind of picky about my pens.  I saw a meta-review of pens for everyday use, and the overall winner was the Uniball Jetstream.

I buy the Jetstream RT, the retractable model.  It is all I use on a regular basis.

ETA:  You G2 users should really give the Jetstream RT a try.  I used to use the G2 all the time, but find the Jetstream to be a far better writing pen.

I'm a lefty so Pilot G2 0.37 is about the only thing I can use.

Anything else smudges as I write.  The Zebra F-301 is nice but the G2 fits my hand better.

I have one called the Hex-O-Matic from Retro51.

It's sturdy and writes good enough for me.

CountyComm Embassy Pen, Stainless.

Received this as a gift from my better half and have been carrying it for the last 3 years.

I like it's heft, it uses the Fisher NASA refill and I can kill you with it if I have to.

Keep The High Ground,

G

I love these, but I've also recently found the Pilot Soft Touch ball points. Write.wonderfully. Cheap, too. I.prefer ball points to gel.

For the poster who mentioned the Papermate Inkjoy pens, I didn't.like them. Ink smeared too much. Didn't write as well.as.I.liked, too.

These are pretty cool, though I don't have one yet:

There are some other designs, as well, including some that take G2 refills.  They can be found here:

I like Uniball 207 blue ink.  I use it in a uniball 207 premier which is their comfort pen.  I also have a Dr. Grip that I use with the G2 refills. Otherwise I use G2s or 207 Signos if you don't want the comfort/ergnomic type pens.

I can't see myself spending $100 on a surefire pen, so what are some good retractable pens (must be a good ol clicky pen) that are tough as hell but not that expensive.

I also prefer it to be on the smaller side I've seen some of the big bulky "tactical" pens and they aren't my cup of tea.

So what are Ya'll using on a daily basis that can take a beating.

I've broke a few... carry in front shirt pocket and lean into or over something and had them snap right in half.

G2

I had an electronic tech that worked for me that loved these pens.  All he needed to stay happy at work was to stay busy and have sufficient G2 pens.  His loyalty could be bought with one 12 pack.  He kept one centered on his desk and the rest lined up in his bottom drawer.  I would go to his desk and rotate the pen 15 degrees when he was away.  He would return and go ape shit that someone messed with his G2.  I started taking one G2 out of his drawer every day or so.  I would then put them back all at once.  It drove him crazy.  He suspected everyone in the office (except me) of messing with his pens.  I was automatically innocent because I was the "supplier of the pens."  I need to send a dozen to him in the mental institution he is house at for now.

Replaced it with a Fisher Space Pen Cap-O-Matic. I've used it for the last 8 months and love it.

Space pen.

If I brake or lose this one I will replace it with another. Great pen that writes on anything.

I have EDC the Waterman Hemisphere for years.
If you search the internet, you should be able to find them for around $35. They regularly retail for double that. I can usually keep one for 5-6 years before losing one.....

I used to always carry a stainless Jotter with a Space Pen refill.  I have bought every type of space pen, now.  I much prefer the Zebra F-701 with Fisher Space Pen refill.  I've had 2 cap-o-matics break on me, and the Jotters just don't seem to last like they used to, anymore.

The F-701 is a much better pen than it has any right to be.

Fucking thread.....

Ok so I'm normally a Parker clicky type guy. Stainless steel Parker's have gotten me through many years as a delivery driver for Airborne Express, office worker and now patrol.

Just ordered all the goods for the Zebra F701 with space pen mod off Amazon (along with a Don Hume IWB for my HK USP-C).

And now, thanks to this thread And this awesome YouTube vid I'll be ordering a Karas Kustom Retrakt...Or maybe it will go on my Christmas list.
