Now I get why some of the old timers on arfcom are so crazy about drugs and increase in government.
I am watching "dragnet" on netflix. Please watch the first episode. Itsoumds like the mods here having a meeting and pulling their hair out about the influx of libertarians amd the lack of COC laws that would help them deal with the problem. It's great. Did you kbow one pound of LSD is enough to make all of Los Angeles psychotic? SOMETHING must be done. |

Knew a fellow who in the '60s was unwittingly given LSD by the Army. They were observing its effect on him. Phucked him up for years and he thought he was going crazy. Finally a shrink recognized it and treated him for it. I'll pass on that crap. I think everyone knows "that guy".

In 1970, the population of Los Angeles City (not LA area) was 2,816,061. 1 pound = 453.59 * 10^6 microGram 453.59 * 10^6 / 2,816,061 = 161 microGram. That is slightly on the high side of a common dose. Their numbers are good. |

He said they would administer LSD to convicts and soldiers and study its effects on the brain. |

Quoted: The interesting thing is how shows like these shaped society. Pure propaganda and fear tactics to cause people to clamor to be controlled. ![]() In the 1960s, Dragnet was what the viewers wanted, not some propaganda designed to convince a soft-headed libertarian American public to support bigger government. And most of the stories on the show are about things other than drugs; the episode I watched the other day was about the MLK assassination and the after effects in LA (nothing happened, as compared to other cities). I can only remember a few which are explicity about drugs: Blue Boy, the Hippie marijuana temple dude, teachers and marijuana in schools come to mind. During the '60s American parents were freaked out by drugs and rock and roll and societal chaos; Dragnet was a comforting counterpoint to the counterculture. |

1 pound is a lot of LSD . I was used for Army drug testing without my knowledge . I was given the drug placebo . I have not been right since ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The only cure for that is about 5cc of Normalsaline. Good luck finding any now, though. The .gov destroyed all but a few samples for R&D. |

Hell, even something like pot would drive someone batty if they'd never had it before and were somehow unknowingly given it. I can't even imagine how someone doing acid would feel. That's a pretty cruel thing to do to someone. |

Also, Jack Webb was 87 times more awesome than David Caruso will ever be. |

Yeah but it only lasts a few minutes. Not the torturous ordeals that other things can be. There is a certain beauty in zero-to-peaking-back-to zero on three minutes flat. The sweat is the hard part with that shit. |
