There's a mini-series available on Netflix (or you can get it on DVD, which would be worth it) called Generation War. I didn't know about this three-part series; some of you may have.
It's a German film about five German citizens during the War on the Eastern Front and their struggles in it. The five inlcude: two German soldiers, one a singer, one a nurse on the front lines, and one a Jew. It's extremely worth your while watching it. The reason I'm posting this in the C&R section is obvious. I spent so much time naming the different guns and equipment while watching this series that I would sometimes have to rewind to re-read the subtitles. Let me know what you think of it when you see it. Can't tell you how much I want a K98 after seeing this... |

It was originally called Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter, literally "Our mothers, our fathers". Which is a much better title imo. It was on youtube when it first came out with English subtitles. I posted a thread about it then.
Not much about the Ost front in film so that part is good. I wouldn't call it a war movie in that the main focus isn't combat but rather how the war effects the lives of a group of young adults; a German Jewish tailor, 2 brothers serving in an Wehrmacht infantry unit, a Deutsches Rotes Kreuz nurse and a singer. |

I've got the German International release on Blue-Ray. It's a very interesting movie. I recommend it.
These movie posts usually cost me money. Another movie I didn't even know existed. Till I read it here. Was the complete Mimi Series of "ARN, The Knight Templar" I have the movie. But the Mini series clocking in at 265mn. Adds so much more back ground. |
