Having picked up a relatively new Mackinaw Cruiser from Filson at a fairly good price to use as a new fall/winter jacket, I realized I forgot to check in with GD to be sure that Filson was an Arfcom approved piece of clothing.
Actually been wearing Filson stuff since the mid-90's.....pricey, but built well enough to be something you hand down to your kids or grandkids. |

I hate you! I've been trying to grab one but now there like $4-500 just on eBay. I do have a Filson/Levis Sawtooth western that's badass. To the OP, Filson make great stuff. I wish they sold it locally around here. |
Yep, it is, but it's awesome gear. Can still see my grandpa zipping up his Filson boots to take me squirell hunting. Should have done more of that.... | I bought my first Filson Double Mackinaw when i moved to Alaska in 1975 for $ 60 . I wore that coat for everything for many years and eventually gave it to a friend. I still see him wearing it around Kodiak, sill looks good. They go for $400 now. Pretty good deal. Filson stuff in general is pretty much bulletproof. |

Ok Elmer Not really. If you looked at what they offer today there are a lot of other options besides fudd clothes. Even the jacket that op bought is being copied my Ralf Lauren and Nordstroms. They are now offering a cut that's not baggy so the fitter/not layering cause its Alaska crowd can actually look good while wearing it. I personaly have got complements on my jacket from the teen to twenties crowd. |

I am a wool snob ( I sell wool as a sideline) and Filson wool is superb quality, amazing stuff. Pro-tip - The waxed cotton rain gear is just so-so. Nothing wrong with the gear, but waxed cotton as a rain coat (or pants) always ends up clammy and cold. Not Filsons fault, just the way it is. I USE my outdoor gear...roughly, and in shitty weather. Filson is top notch. P,S,,,,the Seattle Fit stuff seems a little ghey.... |

Tough stuff.

Just curious...whats the tin cloth like in terms of water repellency? As you can tell from my location. I know a little something about getting rained on.  Tin cloth is great up until a hard rain. It does get a bit clamy due to the wax. If you layer it with a hoodie it will repel pretty much 99% of the rain you'll see. But if its raining hard enough for you pants to be completely soaked then your shirt will be slightly damp. Only really happened to me a few times and those rains got flood warnings.

I've got several articles of clothing from Filson. I've had a waterfowler hat for about 25 years. This past fall I wanted an upland hat. (just like the waterfowler but blaze orange.)
I paid some pretty good money for it. It came in and I was giddy. BUT, something just wasn't right. After serious scrutiny, I realized the brim was sewn on crooked. No good. I called Filson and got some smarmy punk in "customer service". (He's probably the one that had the idea for "Seattle Fit") They were real jerks about not wanting to swap. So I just said I wanted by $$$ back. They didn't like that either but it was eventually resolved. I'll probably buy more Filson in the future as long as it's made in USA. LOTS of it is not. BTW, with my refund, I bought TWO Stormy Kromer wool caps. Now THERE is a great company to do business with! |

Sent it back and never a new one. Called and they sent a new one. Few weeks later dude up the road said a package came with my name, but was delivered to wrong addy. Was the first hat. Called Filson and they said keep both. 
get a call a few days later and the bitch at Filson is going on about how I stole the hat and need to send one back. Mega cunt. 
I call them back and explain the situation and that I would return one of the hats, but that they need to work on their customer service. Lady asked me who I dealt with before and I told her the CS reps name. She laughed and said that CS rep was going through a bad time. 2nd rep said keep both hats 
it would take me two lifetimes to wear out their stuff. Want a upland vest of their's, but really can't justify it. |
