Just got a mini.
What about case? Wouldn't mind water proof. But not necessary. Drop protection for sure. Thanks |

Griffin Survivor. Looks like a tank. Thank you. Amazon here I come tomorrow Have this one, only complaint is the plastic screen, easily remedied by removing and using a screen protector. Did the same mod on an Otterbox for an android. |

I had my hands full and forgot my iPad on the roof of my car one day, fell off when driving about 60 mph. Dinged up the case a bit, iPad is just fine. Quoted:

Otterbox defender is protecting my iPad mini as I type this. Same. My wife has the griffin survivor for hers. Don't like it bc it makes it way too bulky. I also like the otter box bc it's comes with a separate cover that snaps over the screen and doubles as a stand. |

I use a tempered glass screen protector and a lifeproof nuud case, lifeproof holder and ram car mount here for my mini retina. It also doubles as a backup offshore chartplotter for $49 with the Navionics app. I bought it directly from lifeproof and paid the extra $10 for water protection for a year. Kinda redundant with my insurance but if something happens, I'm sure one or both will try to screw me so I hope I'm covered.
ETA: There are lots of counterfeits out there. They look the same and may feel as good but will not protect your device. Shop from the manufacturer, pay for the extra protection and register your case! |
| I suggest Trident cases for excellent protection at a great price. On my mini I have a $5.00 case from a chain of stores called Five Below. It's exactly like the $12.00 cases from FleaBay without the overscreen. The 5 dollar case has good grip, and a good height around the screen to help protect it. Also a little kickstand thingy that actually works in vertical or horizontal orientation. Yes, I know it's not REAL good protection, but it's adult owned, and I've got carpet in most of my house. My mini does not go outside. Kids have Griffin Survivor cases; +1 for custom color combos if that floats your boat. In fact, that's the only reason I got the Griffins instead of Trident- kids liked the colors better. |
