Has anyone used the lifetime free sharpening services from Benchmade? I have a mini Griptilian that could definitely use some TLC, but I don't want to send it in if it's gonna take a month to get it back.
Any experience with them here? |

As a Authorized Benchmade Dealer, I can tell their services are top notch. If you take your knife to a AD they will send if for you and then don't even have to pay shipping. can I send an AFO2 back for service (eventually) through a dealer? I understand why they cant service it directly but I assume a dealer can assist. benchmade has been awesome, took the knife out of the box and promptly fucked up the torx screws with a hex key. Called they sent replacements and a deep carry clip no charge. |
| I use a sharpmaker on most of my knives, so have never used Benchmade's service, but i regularly cruise Blade forums and other places and i rarely ever see anyone complain about their service. Complain about price hikes, off center blades out of the box and a few others, yes, but everyone that sends it in tends to report having a more than satisfactory experience. |
| I'm quite familiar with the Lansky system and use it 90% of the time on all my knives. This one, I thought "What the heck. I'm gonna give them a go just to see how they do". Sounds like everyone has had pretty good experiences with their service in the past. I'll have to drop it off at the post office early next week to get the ball rolling. |

Top notch. Sharpened, cleaned, lubed and returned quickly. I've even rebladed a knife with them to get rid of icky combo edge blades. http://i647.photobucket.com/albums/uu199/starscr34m/Mobile%20Uploads/exesw_zpsz1fzazga.jpg Benchmade Porn I didn't realize that they do blade replacement. I also have the combo edge on my Griptilian and really regret that decision. Do you remember approximately what it cost to have the new blade put on? If it's not much cheaper than just purchasing a new knife, I'll probably go with the new knife option. |

The D2 710 in that pic used to be a nasty combo edge. |

Guess I know what to get the wife for our next anniversary. Plain edge Benchmade that she can send in to sharpen! |

It would take longer to box is up address it and put it in the mail than it would take to sharpen. Not really seeing the point I typically sharpen my knives on my diamond plates and strops but sometimes getting a factory edge is nice. Especially on recurved blades. |

I have a Mini Presidio but have never used Benchmade's sharpening services. OP, you need one of these: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v638/KOOLmike/20140718_122408_zpsvds7jgfy.jpg It's a Smith's sharpening system, they sell for around $20 at Cabela's. They should call these things "The knife sharpening system for people who suck at sharpening knives". I've been using mine for years and while I've since learned how to use a normal stone, this Smith's rig is still great for putting a quick edge on your knives. I guarantee you I would still find a way to fudge my blade up on it. |

I got a sweet deal on my Manix 2 in S110v and skipped a long preorder wait because the guy couldnt sharpen it using his stones. A couple minutes on my diamonds and it's a lightsaber and continues to be one I've been abusing the shit out of it and its still sharp as hell |

They don't require but it's highly recommended in my experience S30V, S90v, S110v, M390, M4 and D2. My Arkansasstones had a hard time on these |
