You know the type. Why are they that way? How do you deal with them?

I try to ignore them.

Sometimes they will not be ignored.

It's a combination of learned behavior and genetics.

Oh, were you looking for an arfcom answer?  Bitches be crazy.  In the hospital, I've heard a term for a certain ethnic group that is stereotyped to be dramatic.  Status Hispanicus.

I'd venture a guess that it's a result of people getting their way as kids by throwing tantrums and learning how to best leverage those opportunities into satisfying their immediate desires.

At least, in many cases.

That sounds right to me. Usually I just ignore them, if I feel like some fun then I might egg the person on just for giggles.

There's an ol' boy at work that's always telling stories about how he almost got into a fight where he would have knocked somebody out.

Does that qualify as hyper-dramatic or is that normal for GD?

FPNI

I deal with them by not dealing with them. I'm not going to help someone who is unwilling to help them self.

I am not exactly sure what makes people that way but it's like the live crises to crises. Thriving off the drama they swear they want nothing to do with. If something is going well it's like they intentionally sabotage themselves so they can have their next crises.  Like a druggy almost.
