Not sure why I want one but they seem sorta cool. I can't imagine they are very accurate though. Looking for experience/opinions. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

nope.
though there are allegedly smart watches coming out from MS / Apple/ Google soon that can track heart rate, activity, temperature, blood oxygen saturation, etc. I think that would be kind of cool and might go for one if they make one that looks somewhat traditional. |

I feel like the technology still has a long way to go with these things because they just became popular. At a very minimum the thing needs to be waterproof and durable. Heart Rate is a big plus along with monitoring sleep patterns. Monitoring distance or GPS capabilities is cool assuming that it is actually accurate. There are so many features I could see having on these things but it just doesn't seem to be there yet. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

My wife and I had the Nike fuel band and mine was horribly inaccurate and my wife didn't like it because it doesn't track sleep so they went back, she's now using the fitbit and is happy with it. the fuel did not impress me. The fitbit seems ok and so does the shine. I just wish the waterproof ones had the features I wanted. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

As long as you remember to turn it into sleep mode, it seems very accurate. I have sleep apnea and dont wear my cpap. Wife hates it and wanted to really show me how I was sleeping. It was much better than the sleep studied I've attended. Shows restless and awake periods during the night on a graph to see how well you actually sleep. Some interesting points with it that I have noticed so far: Drumming on the steering wheel in the car can turn it from normal mode to sleep mode. It does a little buzz when going from mode to mode. If you feel it, you can turn it back to regular/track mode. A busted wheel on a shopping cart at the grocery store can also do this. It says its waterproof, but we dont shower with it. Weekly, I take it out of the bad and use a q-tip to clean the track it sits in. Gets lot of gunt in there. Needs charging more than I thought it would. Almost middle of the week it goes in the charger. Granted it only takes about 2 hours for a full charge. Working from home, I appear to move more than I thought I did. Until I launched the smartphone app and watched just waving my arms caused the step counter to move. So while I do think its one of the better versions out there, there are plenty of activities its tracking that are really note accurate. Its looking for "strenuous activities" but so far there have been plenty of work outs, garage activies ( mowing the yard, chasing the dogs down the street ) that never seen to register as strenuous. The food journal category thing has some of the biggest library of foods available to program. You enter what you eat, it tracks calories and all that jazz, but finding the meal or parts of the meal is very easy. |
