Costco politics aside, I'm interested in getting a good price on a new car.  Does anyone have experience with the Costco program and are the prices really that good?  Is it just a no haggle gimmick where nobody 'wins'?

It's like any other "club."

You give them your info, tell them what car you want, affiliate dealers "compete" for your business.

You save 500 bucks off of MSRP and feel like a dumbass.

Car dealers have successfully lobbied against any form of business that allows customers an advantage, so this is only a paltry discount.

That's what I'm thinking.  Supposedly it's supposed to be below invoice, however.

Those are all words, and confusing ones dealers use to make people think they're getting a deal.

"dealer cost, invoice, MSRP, employee pricing"

There are cars you can buy that cost not much more than what the dealer pays for them, but those are either unpopular as shit, or last MY fleet trucks.

Alternatively, my brother in law works for Mercedes Benz USA, I can use his voucher for 12% off...but I don't know which price the discount is based on.

He should be able to tell you.

This is so much better.

Price the car, and he will tell you what the discounted price SHOULD be. Then find a dealer who is willing to order it for you, he should also help with that.

12% is awesome, the best I could get for an AUDI was 6.

imo, anytime you add a layer between the seller and the buyer- the buyer can rarely gain an advantage he couldnt have got-or beat on his own.
