Howdy all. I'm considering a bicycle for fitness. Need cardio and can't run due to old injuries. Just something basic and cheap. Recommendations?
TIA, Ray |

Search Craiglist and buy a used Trek, Specialized or Giant. They all make pretty good stuff with decent components. Look for rust, dry rotted tires from bikes sitting too long in the garage. Many people have barely used bikes sitting around and will sell them at a good price.
Walmart bikes suck. You will not be happy with them. |

This but go to Trek or wherever and ride some bikes and figure out what size you are first. |

Go to Walmart. Yup. I avoid wal-mart like the plague. But, dr told me to start getting 30 mins exercise every other day. I hate running, and that shit is hard on the body. Went to wallyworld, bought a nice Tactical Matte Black mountain bike and a matching helmet, out the door for less than $150 bucks. |

Look on craigslist and buy something old. It will be well-built, robust, and cheap. It won't be fancy, shiny, or lightweight. But it will take the abuse and fit your budget. You can find good, serviceable bicycles for under $100.

and prepare to replace it afterwards........IF you are serious in your plains. Better to spend and waste $100 than $500 Quoted:

Research and learn what the good brands / models / components are in the (MINIMUM) $500 - $1500 range would be. THEN, hit craigslist. |
