Remake in the original era or a contemporary reboot?
I remember the 80's movie and as a young kids I liked it. With all the rehashing and reboots going around I figured why not. |

I quote Excalibur pretty much daily. Speak the words! I remember seeing Flash Gordon first in a drive through, then in a double feature with Dragon Slayer. Quoted:

Me, and everyone I knew, loved that movie. We drooled over the Museum Replicas Limited catalogs. We all wanted a sword. Quoted:

Excalibur, I need to watch that movie as an adult. It didn't pull me I as a child. Me, and everyone I knew, loved that movie. We drooled over the Museum Replicas Limited catalogs. We all wanted a sword. It didn't have any guns (Rambo) or laser blasts. |

Why re-make something that is pretty much perfect?
When I was living in France, we had a block party, and we had to each take the kids in turn and keep them occupied for an hour while the adults made merry in the street. When it came to our turn, I had no clue ... but did have a tape of Flash Gordon ... but in English ... Oh well! Sat down about 15 kids and warned them that the film was in English, started it and expected them to get up and leave after 15 minutes. Every single one of them stayed right to the end |

Being that the early 80's version was a reboot and remake, I don't see any reason not to redo it. If we don't like the new movie, we can still watch the earlier film. I am sure when the remake in the eighties came out there were old dudes bitching about how bad it was compared to the old forties serials. |
