Try Cold steel machetes, they're made well.

I use a machete pretty hard at work, and own ones from Ontario. Imicasa, SOG, Tramontina, Hansa, Gerber ..maybe more. The Ontario is the most nicely constructed, but the Tramontina 22" Bush Machete is my favorite by far. The SOG was a POS. Never buy one of those.

The Brazilians know something about machetes.  Check out Tramontina.  They are cheap, and a great machete for the money.  If you really want something with a thicker blade, look at the traditional jungle choppers from Valiant, especially their Goloks.

Mine is 15 years old, has been used hard, abused, neglected. It takes, and holds, a wicked edge and can cut through a 2" sapling with one whack. I let it rust into the scabbard, squirted some breakfree in there, pried it out, cleaned it off, and it's still going strong.

I broke the bakelite handle, wrapped the pieces up with grip tape. The newer ones have a more modern rugged plastic handle.

The thing I don't like about the Ontarios is that there is hardly any flex in the blade. Its really rigid. You have to swing harder to get the same depth of cut as a Tramontina, they don't work as well on the small stuff, and they wear you out faster because your arm is taking a lot more impact with each hit.

They do hold an edge and are super durable though. My dad bought the one I have 27 years ago and the only thing wrong with it is a small crack in the handle.

I've been extremely happy with this.

Works great on everything from small vines to branches and even some bigger cedar and pine trees.

I love these threads.  I always recommend Martindale machetes.  Made in the UK.

<James May voice>  Its a proper Gentlemans machete <James May voice>

I have the Martindale Crocodile.

I just bought 2 cold steal machetes.  I prefer the lighter /thinner one.  Looked at the EESE however passed on it because the cold steal was the same steel and half the cost.

I'd look at condor machete's, they have a much thicker stronger blade.

The Cold Steels are a good deal and come "ready to sharpen" dull as shit but come right up. I have several.
The one you linked will serve you pretty well.

The "Heavy Two Hand Machete" is far and away the best chopper. It is on the left here.

You guys should try the Condor Eco line. Very thin blade. If you are careful not to hit rocks
It will stay sharp a long time. They are very lite. I have a wall of machetes and now only use my 18" Eco.

I got the 18" Military one from them. I opted against the saw back because many reviewers said it's nearly worthless for sawing due to straight teeth.

Think of it as halfway between an axe and a machete.  Built like a tank.

Yeah , I like them pretty well , and they're quite reasonably priced .The blades are a little over .100 thick , IIRC . Flexible , but not floppy .

I've one of the Kukris , and keep it in my truck with other implements of trail-camp gear ...I like the grippy-ness of the handle , but wish it was a little fatter to fill my clumsy meat-hooks.

I've also one of and the long , tanto styled ones you have in the lower pic , left of the tomahawk . I chopped a bit from it's long handle and re-drilled the lanyard hole ....really wish it had the stippling like the Kukri , but I dont imagine it'd take long to remedy with a soldering iron.    It gets used to help keep my range clear here at Kamp Krusty .

It's a fracking zombie splitter for sure

The giant gold eagle on a Trans Am doesn't make it go faster, but if I bought a Trans Am, you bet I would get one with a giant gold eagle on it.
