Can anyone recommend a security camera system?
It needs to be wireless, waterproof, and All included - Easy to set up. 3 or more cameras. Some IR / night vision capability would be good. I was thinking of getting the one from Costco, but I know you guys can recommend a better value. |
I bought the Swann system. It only comes with one camera, but additional ones are about $100 each. It is wireless (must plug in the cameras for power though), has IR, good pics, easy to install and use, but has one HUGE drawback--insects set it off constantly, especially at night. Too late I read of systems that have a sensitivity adjustment. Humans can't see IR, but bugs apparently can, so they flock to it and keep it recording almost continuously. Complete PITA during warm weather. 
Oh, one other drawback if you want stealth at night is the red power indicator light makes the IR bulbs glow red, so you see a bright red ring of dots on the camera face. I put a piece of black tape over the red light, which helped a little, but it still shows if you look at it. It's touted as a deterrent feature, but I want video of my thief, not deterrence.
