If you mix blue Loctite with red Loctite and wind up with purple Loctite is it only mostly a pain in the ass to break loose?

All you have to do to get loctite to break loose, is to heat it up.  With small screws, use a soldering iron.  Larger ones, a lighter or a small torch work fine.

You know, they now make a high temp loctite, which holds up to (I think) 850F.

I would still consider it semi-permanent depending on the size of the fasteners.  Loctite makes dozens of different formulations.  I've used at least 15 of them on various things.

A good heat gun will make even the stubbornest loctite break.

I put red stuff on my 1911 grip bushings instead of staking them, I haven't had trouble removing them.

I have to wonder how many of the people who say a soldering iron, or whatever, will loosen either blue (#242) or red (#271) Loctite have actually tried it?  Not one person I know has been able to get red Loctite to release; and the last person I tried is a well-known gunsmith with over 50 years' of experience.  As for blue Loctite?  I've had sporadic results.  Most parts have not released; and this is why I stay on good terms with a local tool and die maker.  Maybe it's because I haven't been willing to destroy the temper in the metal by heating the parts until they're either visibly smoking or cherry red?
