anybody hear play it? I picked it up on a steam sale and have enjoyed it

It is in alpha still so I'm not to worried about the bugs yet, but somehow it's very difficult in a fun way "if you play survival"

Does anyone here play?

How do you like it?

How do you like to play? (Good guy, pirate, mix of the two)

Now that dedicated servers are available do you have any favorites?

Personally I really like it. I think it's the Newtonian physics combined with the survival aspect.

I play mixed. Since there are no locks or ways to pass code your stuff it's easy to be a douche bag, but I generally don't steal peoples mission critical items unless they piss me off. And if I do, I'll usually return and drop off at least raw materials to make more. I generally will let people borrow components as long as they put the mining supplies back into the refinery to make more.

Dallas 24/7  is a big survival server and my favorite because the area to work in is a 900000m cube and the admin set it up with x,y,z beacons to use as coordinates. So once you find a mining asteroid you can right down the grid coord. And come back to it later

Check out insurgency. I think it's $10 right now on steam.

Its a fun game! I have not played it in about a month though. I did design my own Slave 1/ KSE Firespray that you can actually walk around in.

They have two modes, creative and survival. Creative basically is space Legos where you can use any of the components to create out of thin air

Survival mode is the opposite. You start out with a small amount of resources. And have to find an asteroid and mine and refine all of your resources to build the components that go into the parts to make whatever you are building. All he while making sure that your space suit does not run out of power and recharging periodically. Cargo is limited inventory is limited. And you have to weld on the parts you install to complete them. When you die everything on your person disappears and you start out at the last medical bay you recharged at. If you didn't use one you have to start from scratch unless you can find you can find your base/ship before someone steals your stuff. You start out with a welder, grinder, and hand drill

The physics of this game are completely Newtonian. You can use "inertial dampeners" but they use more power and only use the existing thrusters placed on your shop to stop yourself. So if you are going excessively fast and try to stop, but do not have many thrusters in that direction, it will take you a long time to slow down. Inertial dampeners can be turned off and IMHO is easier to fly with. With ID's off, every thruster input you make creates velocity that makes you "drift" in the direction you input. This makes long distance travel extremely fuel efficient, and if you can wrap your head around it is very useful in tight spaces because it removes the instant stop at low speeds due to IDs. Being able to creep through an asteroid at slow speeds without having to constantly tap thrusters to keep going frees you up to just focus on where you are going. If you are going to use this technique, think of it as vector management and you can go just about anywhere without IDs on.

There are basic weapons in the game but they too are subject to Newtonian physics so be careful where you place them or you may blow parts of your own ship off

I was thinking about it, but I'm hooked on Star Citizen.  And it's not even really released yet.

I'm on the fence with star citizen. I'm more of a realism guy
