Years ago Illinois let one slide through on appeal--"MF R"
The guy had a lifted truck with big tires and all (not the current fad, the original ones, back in the '80s) and a huge red sticker in his back window that said "MUDFLINGER." He had to send a pic of the truck, window showing, in order to get it approved. Looked pretty good.
