My MIL is a far left liberal to the point that she has Obunghole stickers on her car. No pics as she's guilty, very guilty.
Yesterday she received notification that her deductibles and co-pays were increasing and she's pissed. I'm laughing and trying not to say "voting has consequences". She explained it to my wife like this: "The republicans refuse to implement any kind of gun control so anybody can go to a gun show and purchase a gun using the gun show loophole. This means there are more guns and shooting victims. Everybody knows that hospital bills are very expensive for shooting victims so they are increasing MY insurance rates because of the gun show loophole. Nobody should have guns if it impacts my money."  Anybody want to trade MILs?

Is she aware of how miniscule the number of GSW victims in the grand scheme of things, other than time slots on the news and talking points by the left? You said she is overweight. Did you explain to her that her and other obese people are doing far more damage to other people's insurance than gun owners are doing to hers?
ETA: Nvm I guess for some reason I red "far left" as "fat" for some reason. But if you really want to blow her mind, show her some numbers on how people that go to the ER for GSW are such a small drop in the bucket it is negligible at best when discussing insurance. |

| That's an interesting one. Usually it's some variation of how "we" as a "nation" are so wealthy that it's unacceptable that some "less fortunate" people are uninsured. As though the insured and uninsured were just sorted into those categories by complete chance, and peoples' wealth is just a giant collective pool to be liberally exploited to "fix" these "injustices." |
