It was retarded to limit the online experience like that in the first place, but I find it odd that they are "opening up" like that now since PS4 charges for online now too.

Plus we now have external HDD storage on the X1 which rocks.

He still has a long way to go in making XB1 great.  A recent survey revealed that 7x% of gamers still don't want it, even with the $399 price cut.  And that includes a majority of XB360 owners.

$399 for the system that is technically brand new, but in the gaming world has archaic hardware. Same for the PS4 though.

The xbox hate is vastly overexaggerrated. I had no desire for one, but after playing with the system for an hour I wanted one. As an entertainment system its AWESOME, but as a PC gamer I'm not spending $400+ for something that weak (hardware wise)

79% Of Gamers Say They Won't Buy Cheaper $399 Xbox One

Two-thirds of Xbox 360 owners aren't even going to give the Xbox One a looksy at the $399 mark. That's without Kinect, that's with the new Games for Gold program and that's with apps being brought from behind the Xbox Live paywall like Darius Rucker emerging from the adult alternative genre as a country star.

I won't get into a sales discussion with you, but nothing about the sales numbers disproves the findings of this survey.

So basically you are saying, "Let me pick some fucking obscure site to prove my point."

Nevermind the fact that the 399 xbox isn't for sale until the 9th and we most likely wont have any numbers until either next month or the next quarter.

Since most gamers were already paying for an xbox live account to play MP games, it wasn't much of an issue.

The biggest problem I had with it was that when the live server was down you couldn't use netflix, amazon prime...etc.  Thats why I hated the original decision.

Yup, it's fucked up, I know PS3 was always free for all online services including games. PS4 now charges for online gaming but all the other online services are still free if you choose not to pay for Playstation Plus.  Playstation Plus also provides free games for you to download and play for the life of your membership.  Microsoft following Sony's lead helps them stay competitive in a market where Xbox One is being outsold by PS4.

As an xbox 360 AND One owner, i can safely say that i wasted my $$$ buying an xbox one.... let me explain...

Yes, the graphics and gameplay are faster and sharper.... But...

you cant talk or play with friends that are on the 360.... so youll have to find all new friends for the One

Are there any exclusive games only for the One? If so, they all suck.... any game available for the One is also available for the 360... so why upgrade?

Furthermore, the One is nothing but an NSA spybot.... i dont even hook up their Konnect (sic)...wayyyy tooo intrusive....if youre in the room, its looking, listening, storing and sending everything you do and say....no thanks.

I play my 360 95% of the time.... the One is def a waste of money.

That said, i am the first/only kid on the block with a One..... Damn its lonely at the top

my issue with the one system is i have a ton of 360 games. my old xbox finally died last year and i was torn with upgrading. decided to just buy a current gen 360 and be done with it. wasn't worth the price to me at the time. even at 399.00 currently i'd be losing based on the games.

Don't care how much the system costs. Until they have at least a few games for it that I want its not worth buying. That's the biggest issue with both xb1 and ps4, they have shit for exclusive titles.

Yep, and that is the nature of the beast with console games, you need to keep the console to play your old games. I think the only system that ever really was fully backward compatible was the PS2, the original PS3 that basically had a PS2 inside was too, but they quickly nixed that version because of production costs.

True, but there is talk of introducing emulation software to run PS1 & PS2 games on PS4 in 1080p.  This would be cool

While new games come out for the 360, they are just ports of the new gen.  I can't justify paying the same price (or $10) for crappier graphics or having it on a system that is at the end of its life.

If you only have a 360, that makes sense, but if you have both(which I do), I'd be an idiot for buying the same game on the 360 over the X1.

I think that is actually somewhat of a positive for early adopters of the system.  Developers can now devote all their time on next gen titles instead of crossing old platforms.

Well unless they convert the games to 1080p graphics, you aren't going to get 1080p graphics.  However they are working on a "streaming" service to play older games.  Though I believe it's either a monthly subscription or a pay per title kind of deal.

Not feeling it especially since I've already bought the games.

The games would not be played natively in 1080p but they would be upscaled digitally which would improve the quality on HD TV's. They have stated that it would run from the orignal disc.

I'd be willing to bet that has more to do with many of their potential customers not being able to afford it as opposed to not wanting it.

I've got a buddy who is perpetually broke.  Money just burns a whole in his pocket.  He plays Xbox 360 like a junkie smokes crack but still doesn't have an XBone because he hasn't been able to pull together $499 at any given point.

In fact, I can think of at least 3 people in my limited gaming circle who want one but can't afford one, and my circle is pretty small.  Maybe 10 people tops.

Xbox 360 was no different when it came out.  I bought an Xbox 360 and didn't play it for the first year or so because all of my friends were still on Xbox playing Halo 2.  It wasn't until Gears of War came out around 12 months later that people started to move on and it wasn't until Halo 3 another year after that that the original Xbox online community finally reduced in numbers from the millions to the tens of thousands.

Xbox One and PS4 will be no different.  Hell, they are probably better in this respect as Battlefield 4 is an infinitely better launch title than anything that was available on the Xbox 360.  I haven't played the new COD but I expect it is the same way.

Both PS4 and Xbox One will get some mature titles in 2015 and beyond that will make them worthwhile.  Early adoption is always a bitch.

I don't really play games online so being able to have netflix without gold is a plus.

I will probably buy a Xbone when they release Halo 2 anniversary or Halo 5. I just haven't decided whether i want to spend the extra and get the kinect. I have an 8 week old and in a few years he may enjoy the kinect.

if i had both i'd agree, i don't. i also had no desire to lose the 50+ games i already owned when my old original gen 360 finally died. i honestly don't care about 1080p graphics, to be honest most people won't notice the difference over 780p on most tv's anyway. for my needs the 360 was good enough and 200.00 or so cheaper at the time.

For me it is all about the games. Xbox One has zero exclusive games that I want right now. The only one that I might have bought the system for, Forza Horizon 2, was announced to be coming to 360 as well. The other game I wanted, Dead Rising 3, is also announced to be coming to PC soon as well. And then all big name triple A titles for the forthcoming future will have PC ports as well.

There is absolutely no reason at all for me to buy an Xbox One.

BUT...

They released the drivers yesterday to use Xbox One controllers on PC

I'm off to buy a XB1 controller for my PC.

The Xbox One currently only has 1 game that interests me, Forza 5.  I have plenty of playtime left in my 360 as far as I'm concerned.

I play very little video game time, so the 360 is fine for me. The kids have their LEGO games, and I have my Fanatec seat/wheel/pedals that aren't X1-compatible anyway.

Very few members of my group have bought XB1.  We all were playing BF4, but have switched back to BF3.  More fun and the last time I played BF4 there were invisible enemies.  Fuck the BF franchise I will not buy the next one.
