Watched the pilot episode last night. Was looking for something else to watch and heard good things about this series.
Thought it was pretty good. Worth it to continue? |

yeah, it's pretty good.
it gets a little written into a corner by the end season, but it's still solid. well acted, pretty well written and the plot keeps moving. plus Forest Whittaker is awesome (season 3? 4? it's been a while since i"ve watched it) it's NOT as good as The Wire, but it's not the same thing either, so it's not fair to compare it. |

I heard so much about The Wire and how it compared to The Shield, but I found it outdated and mundane. The Shield was stunning though. It was hard to root for these guys and Vic Mackey is not so much a cop as a predatory animal controlling everything around him.
Still the best show I've seen on TV. |

Those were actually my thoughts when I first heard of both shows. They did damned fine jobs proving me wrong. |
| one thing I liked about the show was the characters, they are so believable, real life looking people as opposed to the typical beautiful Hollywood models you see in most shows. The series was hard hitting with tons of action and not your typical cop show stuff. One of my favs |

I thought Forrest Whitaker played the best role I've seen him in on The Shield. It's one of the few series I've bought the entire series on dvd multiple times (gifts etc).. |

I don't care how artistically clever it was, I HATED it. There is a great video on youtube that details the artistic vision of the finale and shows annotated scenes and I do agree that some great thought went into it but for me, it just didn't work. I still have not seen the finale of The Shield yet but have read the spoilers. |

Same guy and sure enough he plays a GREAT hardass, and by "great", I don't mean great in a fakey TV way, I mean if I got screwed with by a cop and the cop was just like him, I would be really damn scared--and I don't scare all that easily. |
