Any better way to do it than using the built-in method, which erases everything?
Specifically, I want to (1) preserve all current data and just encrypt the card, and (2) set the SD card to mount at boot time (key passed from an init script or some such, I imagine). Is such a thing easily achievable? How should I go about doing it? __________________________________________________________________ Cross-platform electronic bound book (original thread). Encryption Manager in the app store may do what you need. Doesn't look like it, unfortunately. __________________________________________________________________ Cross-platform electronic bound book (original thread). Just wanted to add that I've used the phone encryption in the settings that encrypts both phone and sd card without any loss of sd card data. It takes a while depending on how much data is there. Using Encryption Manager, or the Android settings? My version of Android was able to encrypt the phone/internal stuff ok, but for the SD card, it explicitly says it'll format the card.

Maybe worth a try. |

Its possible that the way the card was formatted is incompatible with the encryption program. Was the card formatted on a PC or on another cell phone prior to being used on the current cell phone? If so what about putting the card into a PC, copying off the data, then put the card back in the phone and format the card via the cell phone, then put the card back into the PC and move the data from the PC back to the card, then put the card back in the phone and encrypting the card via the Android app on the phone.
