I upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 from a Note 2 a few weeks ago. My wife ended up with the Note 2. I rooted my Note 2 once my warranty expired and loved it. Getting rid of all the bloatware and having superuser access was awesome.
I have the ability to root the 3, and am not worried about bricking my device, but am apprehensive to do so because of Knox. With my luck, something will crap out and my warranty will be void. Anyone on here rooted a Note 3? Is there a way around Knox? |

Tag for info. Edit- What the heck is knox? ![]() It's a security application that also logs any hacking/flashing/rooting of the phone's OS. Knox info |

I have a Note 3 and rooted it a while back. I probably tripped Knox, but I don't really care. Everything works great so far, so I haven't bothered to mess with the device further.
There is a 'safe' root thread on XDA Dev Forums that claims not to trip Knox, but obviously you do this at your own risk with no guarantees. |

I almost pulled the tigger. I have decided to wait. The note 3 runs fast now and I get almost 2 full days of heavy usage battery life. I have been reading about Kit Kat. I think I'd rather jump off a bridge that upgrade to that crap. Especially after Verizon gets a hold of it. I hope they work out the bugs before release.

I'm on XDA regularly. Thats where i learned to root my Note 2, which runs great. 've read the posts on there about getting around Knox. Just wanted to see if anyone on here had additional info to share. Quoted:

Just wanted to see if anyone on here had additional info to share. I was pissed when I heard about Knox. Samsung used to be a dev friendly OEM. Im hopinh they release a developers edition S5 on VZW or I'm stuck with this gnex for a while longer. Unless the vzw nexus 5 rumors are true. |

Has anyone used the RDLV tool? I tried to, but it didn't work at all on my AT&T Note 3. I ended up using Kingo because it was the only thing that worked at the time. It was stupid easy to use, but probably tripped Knox. |

Some info on XDA about ways to root without tripping Knox, but I am hesitant to try until I hear from someone I can trust that they were successful. |

You didn't say exactly what you want to do with it once it is rooted that it can't do now. If it is a company device I'd advise against it either way but if it is yours go for it since you don't care if you brick it. No, it's mine. Of course I care if I brick it, I'm just confident that I won't. Only thing I am worried about is tripping Knox. I want to root it for all the normal reasons. Get rid of bloat ware, have extra ram, access to root-only apps, etc. |

Unless of course you use Knox for security purposes and whatnot... if it's your personal phone I'd just say fuck it and root that sumbitch. |

You wont get any answers here that aren't already on XDA. I agree, but I know some of the guys on here enough to trust them. I don't know anyone on XDA. Wanted to hear some first hand experiences. I'll probably just do it. I can't remember the last time I used a warranty on a phone anyway. |
