I am-not? In '90-'91 My dad and Me got life memberships, We used to give to them-fundraisers ect.. Dad passed in 2000, and soon after DAV

sent me a letter saying My life membership had expired. Well I called and they gave me some bs about MY sponsor had died, I paid for LM,

and that I needed to upgrade or some shit, I hung up, and still toss the shit in the trash. It' been 13yrs, so todays DAV can't say.YMMV

Free legal representation with any VA bullshit
In my opinion, they are the best of the veterans service organizations at doing VA claims related work. (I am a lawyer and was a member for the VA Rating Board for 7 years).

So, OP, if you have a claim pending you can get a POA with them for free.

But, if you feel you should join as a paying member, it's up to you.  There's no "special" benefit to membership.
